Health Care and Libertarianism
I have talked with numerous people about the subject of libertarianism and, while most view some of their ideas as having merit, they always tend to fall back to their fears of a free market. One of their largest, most pronounced, fears that surface is their fear of a free health care market. I can, kind of, see where people are coming from when they voice their fears. However, the way I see it, the government run system is failing us already. We currently have wait times, in a lot of provinces, of 17 weeks or longer. It's nearly impossible to find a family doctor in Alberta. Nurses have been on strike in more than one province, sometimes for months on end. Where will it end?

Candidacy
Sorry, I know I haven't been around here much in the past few weeks, but, hopefully, that will change in short order. During the time away, I've managed to search out and find a new place to live, transfer or cancel the bills and finally move all our stuff over to the new place. None of this was done on my own, of course. My fiance helped out a great deal in finding the place and helping clean the old place and my brother and parents helped with the moving of the stuff. My poor brother has had to help me lift my TV up and down stairs about 8 times now and everyone should feel for him. The help is greatly appreciated though.
On another note, I would like to let people know that I have volunteered to run as a candidate for the Libertarian Party of Canada for the Edmonton -- Millwoods -- Beaumont riding in the upcoming (Read: iminent) Federal election. I would love to hear from any and everyone regarding any concerns or questions they may have relevant to the LPC's policies or what it might be like in a Libertarian government. I have touched the issues in a couple articles, namely Libertarianism and Libertarianism Revisited. I really don't mind the questions, or debate, and would genuinely love to hear from you!

Libertarianism Revisited
I'd like to take a bit to revisit the ideals of Libertarianism. What would it mean to the average person? What would become of the "free" services we are so used to? Would it mean rampant use of drugs, guns and prostitutes? I will start with re-posting a post from the Libertarian Party of Canada's forum by Ethan Erkiletian. I am going to break up the post, as a section concludes, and put my own thoughts in there.

Libertarianism
I have recently come across a political party that made sense. It hit me while I was reading their Statement of Principles. This makes sense! For me, to put "political party" and "made sense" in the same sentence, was a major punch in the gut. What is this world coming to when politics makes sense? I mean, next thing you know, pigs will be flying and unicorns will be everyone's favorite pet!
