Bailouts

Seems to me, if you can't weather a storm, you probably shouldn't be out in it to begin with. If you're so fragile, that you break because of a downturn in the economy, you probably shouldn't be in business. Instead, our governments have decided that they should fund these inefficient and unsustainable businesses. Why? To save a few jobs for a few more weeks. Do they never learn?

United We ... Fall?

There are some things that people don't really like to talk about. There's a good chance that a few people will hate me for just writing my thoughts. Not everyone feels like Unions do a great deal to help things along. Some people feel like they're just paying another tax into another bottomless pit. Unlike their taxes, though, they aren't getting anything in return. Before I go much further, though, let me clarify some personal definitions, to help you follow where I'm coming from:

Canadian Coup

There is, as I write this, an attempt to overthrow our Canadian government. The 3 parties that lost in our October 13 election, the Liberals, the NDP, and the Bloc Québécois, are attempting to join in a "coalition" to defeat the party that which currently holds power, the Conservatives. The way our electoral system works, the party with the most seats in parliament, holds power and declares who the Prime Minister will be. This is all well and good, unless the winning party does not make up more than half of those seats. If you have the most seats, but that number is fewer than half of the seats in parliament (which equals 308), then you comprise a minority government. If you have the most seats and have more than half of those seats, then you comprise a majority government.

Absence

Yes, I know. I've been absent for far too long. Unfortunately, it seems this is the way it's going to be for a little while. On December 2 we welcomed our second child into the family and, with that, have been extremely busy trying to find a routine that works for all of us. Hunter seems to be feeling ignored, Landon wants to sleep (at least until we want to do the same), I had to go back to work and Melinda sure can't do it all. This site was the one area that I could pull some time out of to try and help out more.

Ontario Young Drivers

If you're getting your license any time soon, and live in the province of Ontario, you may want to watch the upcoming headlines closely. It seems Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty wants to step a little further into your life. There is legislation, being looked at right now, that will limit you extensively when it comes to getting about and living your life. That includes going to school, going to work, going to a movie, going to the mall, or going to a bar. If you were planning on helping out and being a designated driver for your friends, think again.

Tagger

This plugin has been a real collaboration effort between Andrew Smith and myself. He originally designed the plugin, with help from others, and was very pleasant to work with in improving the plugin to create something that will, hopefully, work in everyone's case and be its most useful. This page is hosted on my site as a backup to Andrew's Official Tagger page. He may have different information on his page that I encourage you to read over. The plugin download is the same at either page, so it doesn't matter which one you download from.

  • Title: Tagger
  • Version: 1.1.0RC1
  • Status: Release Candidate 1
